With North Americans’ focus on, and demand for, convenience, it is no wonder that weight management has found its way into the foray.
A few years ago when the Atkins diet was all the rage, and carbohydrates everywhere were seeking a support group to join because of their all-of-a-sudden fall from grace (and menus) across North America. Convenience food jumped on to the proverbial bandwagon with such food home-delivery services as In the Zone, Diet Delivery, Zone Chefs, Sunfare and now Healthy Heart Meals. Doesn’t anybody cook at home any more?
Why Is This Becoming Popular?
Many dieters today are too busy to visit a weight loss centre several times or even once a week. And, some people don't live close to a diet centre if they live in rural areas. For them, a new diet plan is emerging--diet food delivered right to your door, every day!
These services offer the convenience of prepared healthy diets and all the planning is done for you. This is an attractive weight loss plan for many time-pressed consumers. But, it does come at a price. These plans usually cost between $10 and $40 per day when shipping is added. Obviously, these weight loss programs appeal to the more affluent of dieters.
How The Service Works
Basically, diet-based food home delivery services prepare gourmet “good for you” food and then deliver these meals and snacks to your doorstep in handy cooler bags before you are even thinking about waking up. With some companies (like Atkins At Home, NutriSystem), you also get a "personal coach" or counsellor, who may be supervised by a dietician or physician and who advises you in your weight loss program.
So what is your excuse for not eating healthily now?
